Mary Louise Walker Vanished After Domestic Violence Incident in 1995

She was recurrently abused by her longtime boyfriend. Was he responsible for her disappearance — and possible murder?

Like many women, 39-year-old Mary Louise Walker was trapped in a repetitive cycle of an on-again-off-again relationship with a dangerous man. Mary and her longtime boyfriend were known to have had a history of domestic violence in their relationship, and while several agreed that she needed to cut him off for good, not many believed that the brutality would be the central focus of her disappearance.

On December 16, 1995, Mary was at her home in Long Beach, California when things between her and her boyfriend turned hostile. A witness at the home with the couple told authorities that they saw the boyfriend punch Mary in the face, knocking her unconscious. It’s said that the boyfriend immediately told the witness to leave the house. Mary has not been seen or heard from since.

The boyfriend, who continues to be a suspect in Mary’s disappearance, is currently serving a prison sentence on unrelated crimes and charges. Investigators believe that Mary was murdered, but her case remains open, unsolved, and cold.

Mary is considered to be endangered missing and is a dependent adult. She has a petite frame, standing at 4’10” or 4’11” and 90 pounds. One of her legs is longer than the other due to a childhood bout with polio. Mary has black hair, brown eyes, and goes by the nickname Wezzy. She has bits of facial hair on her chin and a noticeable scar from her right hip down to her knee. Both of her ears have two piercings and her nose is pierced. It’s also reported that Mary is illiterate and is said to have major difficulty functioning on her own.

She also has tattoos including three cherries on the left side of her back with the stems tied into a bow and a red and black rose with a banner that has the letters “DOC” on her left arm. Mary was last seen wearing a black and white long-sleeved shirt with black jeans and black corduroy shoes.

I grew up not far from where Mary was last seen, and it’s sobering to know that just a few zip codes away, this person who was dependent on those around her to nurture and care for her was being beaten, abused, and taken advantage of — and it may have led to her death.

If you have any information regarding the disappearance of Mary Louise Walker, please contact the Long Beach Police Department 562-570-8810. No bit of information is insignificant.

Daphne Jones Missing (1)

A young woman has been missing for over two decades and there doesn’t seem to be any movement on her case. It was just days after the New Year when Daphne Jones reportedly had enough. Reports state that the 22-year-old was a student at the University of New Orleans and moved out of the dormitory into an apartment off-campus. Daphne learned that she was pregnant, so she reportedly decided it was time to leave school, quit her part-time hostess job at Brennan’s Restaurant, and return home to Maryland to move back in with her mother. She vanished before that could happen. (more…)
