Keeshae Jacobs, 21: Vanished After Texting Her Mom She Was Staying At A Friend’s House

*This article was updated in November 2023*
In 2016, 21-year-old Keeshae Jacobs was dropped off at 3102 E. Broad Street in Richmond, Virginia. Keeshae texted her mother, letting her know that she would be spending the evening at a friend’s house but not to worry because she would be home the following day.
She hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

After being reported missing, investigators looked into Keeshae’s records and saw that the young woman’s life had come to a standstill. There has been no movement on her mobile phone, her bank accounts, or on social media. After graduating from Richmond High School, Keeshae stayed home with her mother and supported herself by working several jobs while contemplating what to do next with her life. She and her mother had a close bond, so for Keeshae to disappear without checking in is abnormal behavior.
“Please just tell me where my baby is at,” Keeshae’s mother, Toni Jacobs, said. “I don’t care about any of the other stuff. I just want Keeshae back. She was my baby. She’s been with me. It’s hard to explain how lost I feel without her.”
A Suspect Is Named & Arrested—But Not In This Case
Later, information surfaced that an incarcerated, convicted felon had information regarding Jacobs’ case. According to NBC 12 News, Otis Tucker has been considered a suspect in the case. In May 2023, he was sentenced to life in prison concerning the death of a Florida woman. Neighbors heard a woman screaming for help, and when police arrived, Tucker was captured as he fled from the scene. Upon searching the residence, authorities found a deceased woman.
“I’m doing 110 percent of what I can to find the answers she needs for Keeshae, to bring her back home,” said Richmond Detective Billy Thompson, the lead investigator.
Toni added, “In that moment, I was hurt for the mother who lost her daughter.” She keeps in contact with the victim’s mother. “We talked on the phone a couple of times, and I literally apologized to her. It was two mothers on the phone crying,” said Toni Jacobs. “She’s praying for me that I get the answers, and I’m praying for her because she lost her daughter in the process of me trying to get the information and get this man prosecuted.”
The Loss Of Another Child
Three and a half months after Keeshae disappeared, her brother was murdered. A suspect has been arrested and charged in that case, and police don’t believe that the murder and Keeshae’s missing person case are related.
“No doubt in my mind that someone in that Broad Street corridor knows something about this,” Thompson said. “If we could just touch their heart, bring them to come forward.”
Keeshae Jacobs: What To Know
At the time of her disappearance, Keeshae Jacobs was described as 5 feet 3 inches tall and approximately 105 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Keeshae has several tattoos, including paw prints on her right thigh, a flower on her right hand, a leaf on her right foot, the name “Toni” beneath a heart on her left shoulder, and a rose on her left arm/shoulder. Both of her ears are pierced. Keeshae was last seen wearing a pink headscarf, black basketball shorts, and Nike sneakers. Her fingernails were painted blue.
