*Update* Chaunti Bryla Was Last Seen Getting Out Of Cab At Her Home

Chaunti Bryla

Please read the tragic update regarding this missing person case here. I send prayers to the family and friends of Chaunti Bryla.

Original Report:

In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times,  Deana Balfour, Chaunti’s friend, found it interesting that the CPD wrapped up the Jussie Smollett incident within weeks after dedicating round-the-clock energy to the high-profile case. Still, there’s been no movement in finding out what happened to Chaunti.

“They can find two African brothers all the way in Africa and can’t find somebody on the South Side,” Balfour said, referring to Ola Osundairo and Abel Osundairo, the two brothers of Nigerian descent who were involved in the attack on Smollett that occurred on the streets of the Windy City.

“We talked to the detectives last night, and they keep saying they are working on it,” Balfour told the Chicago Sun-Times back in April. “But that is not sufficient. She has been gone for almost four weeks. That is not normal behavior. And she did not live a hazardous lifestyle.”

Local news stations covered the story of the 43-year-old woman whose last point of contact was on March 14. Flyers were reportedly printed and distributed around her South Side neighborhood. Chaunti’s family has done their best to help the police with their investigation by giving them the names of potential suspects.

However, the disappearance of the former public relations specialist hasn’t warranted any arrests. Chaunti was also a longtime clerk at the circuit court’s office, so those close to her thought the police department would give her missing person case more attention.

“She had just gotten her income-tax check,” Balfour said. “The individual is on a surveillance video that shows him getting money out of the ATM, and her account is now totally empty. Police have not picked him up even though he has a history of battery to other women.” She added, “This is just disheartening. There are so many girls missing or getting killed, the community has become numb.”

“This family needs CPD to put the same efforts in finding Chaunti as they do for high-profile cases,” Balfour said. “This is a travesty that CPD has not made the effort in finding this woman and the others in Chicago still missing.”

Chaunti is 5 foot 2 inches tall and between 200 to 210 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes, and no listed distinguishing marks. She was last seen at her home near 85th and Bennett.

Anyone with information is urged to contact  Sergeant Monique Washington, Chicago Police Department – Area South, at (312) 747-5789. No bit of information is insignificant. Chaunti Bryla is our sister, and her life matters.
