A Google search of the name “Janice Shantea Jones” won’t bring up any information about the 23-year-old who disappeared from Saginaw, Michigan. Not even “Janice Jones.” Not “Janice Shantea Jones missing.” Not “Janice Jones Michigan.” Not any variation of this woman’s name or anything associated with her being a missing woman from The Great Lakes State. It’s baffling that an adult can vanish in 2018, and there is no news coverage, not even a blip in local media, accessible by the general public.
In a time where nearly everyone posts everything from what they had for breakfast to their intimate honeymoon moments, I’d expect to find some bits about the disappearance of Janice Jones. In Spring 2018, Janice was a resident of Flint, Michigan, and March 10 was the last time that members of Janice’s family heard from her. She told them she needed someone to pick her up from a bus stop in Saginaw, Michigan, about 40 miles from Flint. The arrangements were made, and someone did arrive to give Janice a ride, but the person said she never showed up. No one has been able to get in contact with Janice since.

At the time of her disappearance, Janice Jones was 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed 160 to 175 pounds. She has black/dark brown hair and brown eyes. She has no noted tattoos, but she does have a nose piercing in her right nostril.

The way you came across her case is the same way I came across her case. Sadly, I’ve noticed that black families and friends don’t post widely about those who are missing. I’m not sure why, but that’s why I think our cases go cold. The people who matter don’t cause an uproar about it. It’s like they act like nothing happened. I couldn’t even find anything on social media about her and many others. Sad really.
