Naya Rivera, 33, Passed Away During A Boating Trip At Lake Piru
After an exhaustive five-day search at Lake Piru in California, authorities have confirmed that they’ve recovered the remains of Naya Rivera. The actress was 33-years-old.
Last Wednesday, the world was confronted with frightening news that Naya Rivera had gone missing. The Glee actress visited Lake Piru with her four-year-old Josey Dorsey, a son she shares with ex-husband and actor Ryan Dorsey, and was seen on surveillance cameras renting a boat. Hours later, Naya’s son was spotted by himself, asleep and wearing a life vest on the boat by others enjoying an afternoon on the lake. When asked where his mother was, he told them that she jumped into the water and never came back. he strangers immediately called authorities to find help for the lone child and his missing mother.

Authorities worked tirelessly from sunup to sundown in their search efforts, but it was clear that after the first 24 hours, investigators were on a recovery mission. The actress’s friends, family, fans, and supporters prayed endlessly for her safe return, even though there was evidence to support that the opposite would occur. One of the most heartbreaking images that have been shared over the last few days is that of Naya’s mother, Yolanda Rivera, on her knees on the Lake Piru pier in full prayer with her arms stretched out, pleading for the return of her daughter.

Sheriff’s claim that according to little four-year-old Josey, both he and his mother were in the water when something happened. She apparently quickly rushed to boost him up and back onto the boat before he turned around and saw his mother sinking underwater, only to never return.
“She must have mustered enough energy to get her son back on the boat, but not enough to save herself,” Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said at a news conference. “It has been an extremely difficult time for her family throughout this ordeal. We share in their grief.”
Authorities believe that Naya’s remains were entwined in underwater vegetation making it difficult for investigators to locate her. The investigation is ongoing, but it has been noted that the actress had experience with boating and being amid nature. I offer my sincerest condolences to Naya’s loved ones through this tragic and difficult time.
