Margaret Elmira Bowser Took A Cross-Country Trip & Vanished In 2007

Margaret Elmira Bowser (1)

Stories about women driving cross country only to disappear somewhere along their journey are plots of horror films. We often think that tales such as these are torn from popular thriller novels, but it seems that truth is stranger than fiction. It isn’t much known about Margaret Elmira Bowser or her missing person case. Still, it’s reported that the 36-year-old planned on taking a long drive from Winston-Salem, North Carolina to San Francisco, California.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System states that Margaret was last seen in Winston-Salem on February 1, 2007, so it’s unclear whether or not she actually made it to California. It’s also shared that Margaret’s car was sold, so I’m not sure if it was sold in San Francisco or in another city along the way. I’m assuming she made it to San Fran because the police department handling the case is in that city. Where she lived, the reason for her trip, if she had friends in San Francisco, and any other personal details about Margaret’s travels remain a mystery.

Margaret Elmira Bowser: What To Know

At the time of her disappearance, Margaret Elmira Bowser stood 5 feet 5 inches and 125 pounds. She had black/dark brown hair and brown eyes. Both of her ears are pierced, and her nickname is “Mira.” Information about any distinguishing marks on her body or the clothing items she was last seen wearing has not been shared. She would be 49 years old at the time of this publication.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the San Francisco Police Department at (415) 558-5508 or their local authorities.
