Juliah Karwitha, 66: Went For A Morning Walk In 2015 & Never Returned

Julia Karwitha Missing

What was set to be a regular day for 66-year-old Juliah Karwitha turned into a mystery for her loved ones. Juliah was visiting her family in Los Angeles in August 2015. She had traveled all the way from Kenya and was supposed to spend the next few months with her relatives through the holiday season. She was preparing for her first Christmas in L.A., but instead, she vanished.

Juliah Karwitha had grown accustomed to taking morning walks around her son’s neighborhood in Reseda, California, in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. On November 1, 2015, Juliah told her son, James Muthurri, that she wanted to go out for one of her regular strolls, so she left his home. After Juliah arrived, James noticed that she was having issues with remembering things, but he didn’t think that it was a significant enough problem that she couldn’t go out for walks by herself. Unfortunately, Juliah never returned.

A Son Continues His Search

James has spent years desperately searching for his mother. Not far from his home on Reseda Blvd., a surveillance camera from an animal hospital captured Juliah Karwitha walking down the street. That was just two blocks away from home. There were also reports that Juliah was seen at the Woodland Hills Mall, approximately 10 miles from central Reseda. After his mother went missing, James hired a private investigator to take on his case.

“I think [the] biggest possibility is she tried to get somewhere, got disoriented, tried to get back, just went further out,” said private investigator Bill Garcia.

Everyone is particularly worried because Juilah Karwitha didn’t take her identification, cell phone, or high blood pressure medication.

Juliah Karwitha: What To Know

At the time of her disappearance, Juliah Karwitha stood 5 feet 3 inches tall and was approximately 120 pounds. She had black/dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a brown hat, brown scarf, green sweater, black pants, and blue shoes. She has a mark on the side of her cheek and speaks with a thick accent.
