Olivette Turner, 30: Was On Her Way To Sister’s House Before Vanishing In 1989
For decades, this beautiful, vibrant young woman has been missing without a trace, and I fear there won’t be closure to her case anytime soon.
According to information provided by the FBI and The Charley Project, 30-year-old Olivette Turner spoke to her sister, name unknown, on the phone at approximately 5:00 p.m. on May 1, 1989. It’s unclear what they discussed, but it’s reported that she scheduled a visit that was to take place later that evening.
A Detective Shares More Information & A Theory
Where Olivette was departing from hasn’t been shared, but it’s assumed she was at her own home. Last year, a detective spoke with reporters and gave an update on Olivette’s travels.
“She had made mention about going up to Pennsylvania to either visit or live with an aunt,” Detective Matthew Filter with Metro Nashville Police Department’s Cold Case Homicide Missing Persons Unit told WKRN News in 2022. Yet, the aunt told police that Olivette never showed and she didn’t even know that she planned to visit.
“She didn’t have a vehicle or any mode to travel. She was known to utilize truck drivers and hitchhike her way to various locations,” Det. Filter added. “There’s always the possibility that she got into the truck with the wrong person.”
“She has a daughter that she left behind, which kind of makes us feel as though something probably bad happened to her,” Filter said. “It’s hard to believe that a mother would just leave a young child behind.”
Olivette Turner: What To Know
At the time of her disappearance, Olivette Turner stood 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed 110 to 120 pounds. Her hair was dark brown/brown but dyed a red/auburn color. Her eyes are brown. Olivette went by the name “Ollie.” She would be 61 years old at the time of this publication, and her middle name is Lyvonia.
