Lydia McDuffie, 33, Left For Work & Never Arrived At Her Job In 1991

She left her kids with her mother and never returned.

Lydia McDuffie Missing

We love celebrating anniversaries. Proposals, weddings, birthdays, career milestones—regardless of the location or the culture, special days of significance will be commemorated. These include times that aren’t as joyous, like the story of Lydia McDuffie. Eleven days ago marked the 29-year anniversary since the 33-year-old was last seen, and I can only imagine how her loved ones have carried on all of these years.

On August 18, 1991, Lydia McDuffie was seen speaking with a friend in Atlanta, Georgia near her home on Techwood Avenue. Later, Lydia prepared for work, so she left her two small children with her mother and made her way to her job at the Comfort Inn on North Avenue. She was wearing her standard burgundy uniform with pink trim and was carrying a change of clothing—jeans and a white top—in her arms.

Two days passed and Lydia McDuffie never returned to pick up her children. Her mother was concerned and after a bit of investigating, she learned that Lydia never showed up for her shift at the motel. Very little about Lydia’s case has been made public, including information about her personal or social life. Who she may have met up with, if anyone, is unknown.

At the time of her disappearance, Lydia McDuffie stood 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds. She had black/dark brown hair and brown eyes. There isn’t much known about her distinguishing marks aside from a burn scar she has on her right arm. Also, Lydia’s middle name is “Michelle.” She would be 62-years-old at the time of this publication.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Atlanta Police Department at 404-853-4235 or their local authorities with this NCIC Number: M-512116095.

Please share this story about Lydia McDuffie in order to reignite the investigation into her case. She is our sister and her life matters.
