Arverne Jane Doe, Possibly A Teen: Found In New York In 1991
Some of the most heartbreaking stories are about people who pass away or who have been murdered, only to never be identified. Arverne Jane Doe was found on May 1, 1991, in Queens, New York, along the shore of Jamaica Bay near Beach 62 Street in the neighborhood of Arverne. It’s reported that her state of decomposition was severe, and an investigation revealed she’d been dead for at least a few months before she was located. A medical examiner determined Arverne Jane Doe had been beaten to death in either late 1990 or sometime in early 1991.
This young lady was discovered by two fishermen who were going about their day. It’s believed that Arverne Jane Joe was somewhere between the ages of 16 to 24-years-old and when her remains were recovered, both hands and one-third of her left forearm were missing. Her dental and DNA records are available for comparison.
At the time of her disappearance, Arverne Jane Doe is estimated to have been around 5 feet 3 inches tall (5 feet 1 inch to 5 feet 5 inches in some reports). Her weight is unknown. Her hair color and eye color are also unknown due to decomposition. She has completed dental work, and one of her upper front teeth had a gold cap (one report says two teeth). She was found wearing a black shirt with metal rivets and socks with light blue trim.
