Ruth Louie, 82, Went On Walk & Was Last Seen Getting Into Car In OK

Ruth Louie Missing Oklahoma (1)

*UPDATE 4/3/21* A family member has contacted me to say that Ruth’s remains were found at her home. It was reportedly in a place that had already been investigated. I send my sincerest condolences to Ms. Louie’s loved ones.

It wasn’t uncommon for residents in New Lima, Oklahoma to see Ruth Louie walking down the highway. The 82-year-old walked the approximate six-mile journey daily, often seen strolling along Highway 270, but on February 4, 2021, something changed. Ruth Louie was reportedly spotted in the Twin Bridges area of Highway 270, however, there was a car that stopped along the way. Then, Ruth was seen getting into the white Nissan Altima with an unidentified White man behind the wheel. The elderly woman hasn’t been seen or heard from since that time.

“It was totally unexpected, I was just in Oklahoma a week ago (and) I spent time with her,” said Marvin Battle, Ruth’s grandson. He reportedly traveled to Oklahoma from South Dakota once he learned that she was missing. “It’s not something you’d ever think would happen to a loved one… She walked on that highway a lot, this whole community, they know who she is. I’ve been going to houses all day, passing out flyers and stuff. I was surprised, didn’t know that many people knew her.”

Marvin pleaded with the mysterious man seen in the vehicle. “Please come forward, I’m begging you,” he said. “You’re the last person to see her. My whole family is asking to please come forward. Tell me if you might have dropped her off at a store, it is what it is… I would give her the biggest hug if I seen her, I would be so happy if I could see my grandma right now.”

Marvin told a local news station that Seminole County sheriffs always offer to give Ruth a ride, but she declines.

At the time of her disappearance, Ruth Louie stood 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighed between 140 to 150 pounds. Her eye color and hair color aren’t listed in reports. The National Missing & Unidentified Persons System lists her as Black and Alaskan Native. The Seminole County Sheriff’s office (Oklahoma, there is another in Florida) was the first to learn of the missing person case and reached out to the OSBI for help. Ruth was last seen wearing a blue shirt, red pants, and a coat. Her middle name is “Elizabeth.”

  • This makes no sense to me. Why did her family let her do this? Why was no one walking WITH her – she was 82 for crying out loud!!! This sounds liker elder neglect and now she is missing due to that neglect
