Dawnita Wilkerson, 44: Mother Of 6 Last Seen At Motel In June 2020

By the time June 2020 rolled around, the world was waist-deep into a global pandemic. It had been just a few months since dozens of countries went on lockdown under quarantine, but one Indiana family was frantically trying to search for 44-year-old Dawnita Wilkerson. The mother of six was reported missing on June 22, but it was first reported that she was last seen by her 15-year-old the day prior. However, the investigation revealed that wasn’t the case.
Police discovered that on June 21, 2020, Dawnita Wilkerson was captured on surveillance footage of an Evansville, Indiana motel on the East Side of the city. It was at 8:16 a.m. when cameras spotted Dawnita getting into a silver Chevrolet Suburban with a sunroof and tinted windows. It was reportedly seen driving through Southwest Indiana and into Southern Illinois. Police believe she may have been traveling to the Carbondale or Marion areas of Illinois.
According to reports, the vehicle in question is registered to a man named Cedrick Vernall Neal, but he allegedly hasn’t been cooperative with the investigation. Dawnita’s loved ones vocalized their frustration with authorities for not revealing certain information that they had learned. Evansville Police Detective Jeff Hands told reporters that there is a “method to the madness” because they need to thoroughly chase leads before releasing anything to the public.
“Unfortunately in a case like this we can’t share everything with the family,” Hands said. “We try to tell them that. I can’t imagine what they’re feeling, and I know they’re frustrated, and I understand that. Sometimes we just can’t discuss things, the way we do things, obviously… We want to try to do things on our terms.”

We just want everybody to help us bring Dawnita home.”

Dawnita reportedly has several tattoos: a heart on her lower back, praying hands with the word “Timmy” on her upper right shoulder, and a cross on her upper left shoulder.
