Kenisha Dixon: Opened Her Front Door & Was Murdered In 2000
The person responsible for the death of Kenisha Dixon has gone unknown by authorities for over two decades, but her loved ones are determined to see justice in this case. I stumbled upon Kenisha’s story after falling down a rabbit hole that landed me on the “Cold Cases” page of the Houston Police Department’s website. There has not been much shared about the investigation into this cold case, but the scene of Kenisha’s murder suggested that she may have lived in fear.
According to reports, on May 9, 2000, someone knocked on Kenisha’s door at 11:10 a.m. Then, upon seconds of opening the door to her residence at 10003 Forum West #163, the person on the other side of the threshold shot and killed her. Because a handgun was found near her body, it is believed that Kenisha answered the knock while holding the firearm, leaving authorities to believe that she may have been fearing for her safety. She may have even known the person who took her life, but that is speculative.
Investigators Speak To Kenisha’s Roommate
It is unclear who called the authorities or if someone else was present at the home when the incident occurred, but it has been reported that she was pronounced dead at the scene. Kenisha was living with a roommate at the time of her death, a man who was questioned by police. He told them that he was the owner of the gun found by her body, but why Kenisha may have had it when she was slain remains a mystery.
The Houston Police Department shared on its website that “investigators were able to ascertain valuable information while conducting a canvas, interviewing residents of the apartment complex and others.” Yet, no persons of interest or suspects have been named, at least not publicly, and it has been an aggravating search trying to find news reports about Kenisha Dixon or updates regarding this decades-old investigation.

I could only locate one photo and am still searching for an outlet to reveal her age. Her personal life and relationships have not been shared, and finding information about her on social media has been fruitless.
