Home » Jennifer Blackmon, 35: Mystery Launches After Car Found Abandoned
A Michigan woman has been missing for a year and as the anniversary of this case recently passed, I want to highlight the story of Jennifer Blackmon who disappeared on December 22, 2020. I was only made aware of Jennifer’s case while searching for stories that occurred during the holiday season, and according to reports, the 35-year-old borrowed her daughter’s car to get to work after hers broke down that same day. She reportedly spoke with her father about getting her car repaired and was never seen again.
The vehicle was later found parked on Frazier Street in River Rouge, Michigan where Jennifer Blackmon once lived with her estranged husband. Her family reportedly shared that someone who Jennifer was scheduled to have a business meeting with said she was a “no-show.” A report stated that her family even hired a private investigator to help with this case and they learned that the last call Jennifer made was to her husband who she had recently broken up with.
“It’s approaching one year and we still haven’t heard anything from our friend, it’s heartbreaking,” said Jennifer’s good friend Precious Finley last month. “In my heart no – no, I don’t (think she is alive), and that’s the hardest part, we aren’t getting any closure of anything. It’s like she vanished.”
“They don’t they don’t have any leads right now,” added Jennifer’s brother Aaron Hamer. “They are turning over some of the evidence to (Michigan State Police) because we turned in a laptop back in August. I just want some type of results – I want to at least hear about something is being done.”
Aaron added that officers had been called to Jennifer’s home that she shared with her ex in the past, but he didn’t specify why that occurred. “Policeman called the day we had moved her out,” said Aaron. “Then that September, police called then. So far as I know, police knew about this issue.”
Jennifer’s daughter, Amonte Blackmon, made a heartfelt plea. “It hurts really bad and I never expected to go through anything like this. Sometimes I just don’t know what to do. I feel like I’m lost without her because I really do need her. I shouldn’t have to worry every night, wondering if my mom is ok or not.”
“My mom is very important to us. She’s an important aspect of the family. She holds everyone together,” Amonte said. “I have so many questions I want to ask her. I’m not able to ask her and she’s not here when I need her.”
At the time of her disappearance, Jennifer Blackmon stood 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed 130 pounds. She had black/dark brown hair and hazel eyes.
Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the River Rouge Police Department at (313) 842-8700, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or visit 1800speakup.org, or their local authorities.
