Tammy Fortson Missing

Yet again, we are confronted with a cold case that does not seem to have received proper media coverage. For those who are regular readers of OurBlackGirls, you know how frustrating it is to come across a case that has little to no information, no matter how far back it reaches into history. That is what we have with Tammy Fortson, a 28-year-old woman who went missing from Conyers, Georgia, back in 1997. There has not been much shared about her life or the circumstances involving her disappearance, and sadly, any movement on Tammy’s case is also impossible to locate.

Additionally, the little information that has been shared leaves inquirers with more questions than answers; according to reports by the National Missing Persons and Unidentified System (NamUs), Tammy vanished on or around October 2, 1997. However, her mother didn’t report her as a missing person until November 15, and there has not been a reason given why it took so long to file or contact the authorities.

Tammy Fortson was reportedly last seen in the area of Christian Circle and was said to have told someone she was leaving to go to the store. She reportedly traveled on foot, but it is unclear what store she intended to visit, what she may have been shopping for, and how far away the location was from her beginning destination. It was stated that Tammy simply never returned from her trip, so it is puzzling as to why she wasn’t immediately reported missing by her loved ones.

Tammy Forston: What To Know

At the time of her disappearance, Tammy Fortson stood 5 feet 1 inch to 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighed between 80 to 125 pounds. She has black/dark brown hair and brown eyes. Tammy is said to have had a scar on her abdomen, a scar on her right hand (on one of her fingers), and a panther tattoo on the front of her upper right thigh with the name “Raymond” underneath. All that was shared about what she was last seen wearing was that she had LSW “used” brand name jeans on. Her middle name is “Brena.” Tammy would be 53 years old at the time of this publication.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Conyers Police Department at (770) 483-6600 or their local authorities. The agency case number is 97-004875.
