Phedra Walker, 38: Aunt Details Mother Of 2’s Disappearance From California

There may not have been a substantial viral moment surrounding Phedra Walker just yet, but her aunt, Marlena, is making sure to keep her name in the headlines. Recently, Marlena reached out to OurBlackGirls for help in spreading awareness about Phedra Walker, a woman who went missing from Los Angeles, Calif., over the summer. Like many loved ones, Marlena told Spectrum News 1 about her frustrations over the lack of movement from investigators.
“I wanted someone to come out here and ask me questions,” she said. “They didn’t even ask for a picture.”
Marlena Explains The Circumstances Regarding Phedra’s Disappearance
In an email to OBG, Marlena detailed what she was informed about her niece’s last known movements. The mother of two teenagers, a 17-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter, vanished between July 22 and 26 this year. Phedra’s children lived with their father, and although she was unemployed, she received benefits from the Employment Development Department. Marlena hoped the EDD would be helpful in this case, but she was told they do not share information due to privacy.
Marlena further told OBG that on July 21, Phedra had surgery on her left hand. She claims this stemmed from Phedra’s ex-girlfriend slamming “her hand in a car door in June.” The following day, Phedra spoke with her children’s father and told him her hand was in a cast.
“So, sometime between the 22nd and 26th, her ex-girlfriend said they had an argument,” said Marlena. “Phedra left, walking toward the train station on 103rd in Watts, CA.” She added that Phedra said she was going to Hollywood, “where she was staying sometimes,” which was the “last we heard of her.”
The missing mother’s phone was tracked and pinged in Dallas, Texas, a month later on August 30. “Someone (a man) answered, said he found the phone,” Marlena revealed. “He never answered again.” How the Phedra Walker’s mobile ended up in Texas is “a real mystery,” writes Marlena. “I put in a missing report at the Hawthorne station because I live not too far. The person that was assigned her case transferred her case to the Hollywood division, because her last known address was in their jurisdiction. Now we’re just waiting, we did put up flyers and have her picture on many missing sites.”
Phedra Walker: What To Know
At the time of her disappearance, Phedra Walker stood 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed 135 pounds. She has black/dark brown hair (shoulder length) and brown eyes. Her middle names are “Unique” and “Jasmine.” Marlena stated that Phedra isn’t particularly streetwise.
Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the Hawthorne Police Department at (310) 349-2720 or their local authorities. The agency case number is 23-8911.
