Kierra Stubbs, 23: Got Into A Man’s Car & Hasn’t Been Seen Again

Kierra Stubbs Missing

Although her last moves were captured on camera, there has yet to be an arrest in the case involving 23-year-old Kierra Stubbs. The Birmingham, Alabama, woman reportedly met a man at her job who needed help with his children. He didn’t know how to do their hair, so in exchange for Kierra’s assistance, the man told Kierra that he’d do some work on her car’s brakes.

“I didn’t know him personally, but Kierra knew him from coming up to her job,” Kierra’s grandmother, Ora Stubbs, told CBS42. “From what Kierra said, he seemed like a nice person, and he needed someone to help with his kid’s hair and stuff, and she was like, yeah, I got a daughter I can do their hair. He seemed nice at the time.”

Ora added, “He wasn’t a boyfriend or nothing like that. It’s just somebody she thought was an older guy who was nice. She was helping him, and he would return the favor by doing her car. And she went with him to meet him that day.”

The Man Remains A Puzzling Mystery

The mother of two met up with the man, whose name hasn’t been released to the public, on April 24, 2014, at a Boost Mobile store in Birmingham. Surveillance footage shows the two greeting each other before Kierra gets inside his Burgundy Chrysler 200, and they leave.

Kierra’s family explained to AL.com that the mother of two and the man were already acquainted. Kierra did help the man with his children’s hair and they spoke on the phone, so he wasn’t a stranger. However, the investigation into this person is unknown, as reports have not offered detailed updates from the police.

“It’s like she just disappeared off the earth,” Shonte Stubbs, Kierra’s aunt, told AL.com. “It’s hard. Every day you wake up not knowing where she is, what condition she is in. A hundred things go through your mind that could be happening to her.”

Detective Rodney Rogers was one of the original investigators in this case but is now no longer a part of the team. He said, “It’s no witnesses to say what happened in the car, where did they go, or anything like that. So that’s why we need the public to go back to that day and see if they remember anything or saw anything, saw them go anywhere, something that could give us a lead or somewhere to start.”

“We haven’t forgotten. The Birmingham Police Department has still been working on the case,” Rogers continued. “We are still trying to get new leads. I just want to let them know we are still looking at even though I’m not working on the case our cold case detective….is very capable. He’s looking at it, and we’re not going to stop until we get some closure.”

Kierra’s young children are being cared for by her family as they continue searching for answers.
