Older missing persons cases are expected to be left with little information to go on. It’s often difficult to find details regarding women who went missing pre-2000s due to errors in police reports or news stations opting not to share coverage about a case—and the exceptions were those stories that captivated the American public, sensationalizing the disappearance in headlines.

However, in times when social media has been all the rage, people like 33-year-old Matrice Washington should have their names plastered on billboards or true crime shows, but she has gone widely unreported for over a decade.

The last time Matrice was documented as being seen or making contact was on February 1, 2008, in Detroit, Michigan. Where she was, who she was with, if she planned to travel, where she worked, if she was in a romantic relationship, who her friends may have been, and any other details regarding her life are unknown.

A quick search of “Matrice Washington” will bring up a handful of articles, all with the same basic information about a woman in the Motor City never being seen again.

At the time of her disappearance, Matrice Washington stood 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed 130 pounds. She had black/dark brown hair (she was known to wear hairpieces and wigs) and brown eyes. Both of her ears are pierced, and she has a scar on her right leg. Matrice goes by the nickname “Nikki.” She would be 45 years old at the time of this publication.
